The History of the Museum's Creation

Established on November 11, 2011, at the location of the First Battle of the Marne in Meaux, the Museum stands as the largest First World War museum in Europe. Spanning 3,000 square meters, it boasts an extensive and diverse collection associated with the Great War, featuring compelling and innovative exhibition designs.

Exposition and Main Exhibits
With a tailored scenography, items from the Museum’s collection and others on public and private loan provide a greater understanding of World War I, presented in temporary exhibitions. All year round, the Great War Museum schedules cultural events that offer a different approach to this war, through performing arts, conferences, workshops, and key events.
